thomas, im thinking of doing CAI but not sure about the difference between the following:

1) Cold Air Induction
2) Silent Jet Cold Air Induction
3) Direct Air Intake
4) Hyper Direct Air Intake
5) Open Pod with CAI

Air intake’s main purpose is usually to give power because cool air have a higher concentration of oxygen, thus will give you better combustion. However, take note that poorly designed CAI will actually weaken your low end power. Many incident of FC worsen because in

Singapore, low-end is more frequently used. All in all, I still feel that given the cheap price and its effectiveness, it is one of the “mods” you should do.

1) Cold Air Induction
Also commonly known as CAI. Can be done by simply fit in a longer piping and stretch the intake point to somewhere cooler or fresh air instead of the hot engine bay air. For myself, I point it at the front bumper area. This could be improved by adding heatshield to your stock air filter box. Heatshield Is basically heat resistance material paste around your filter box. Do also note that you need to have a good quality air filter if you are into CAI as you are exposing your engine to more dust.

2) Silent Jet Cold Air Induction
Not sure. Could be one of different open/close pods / technique used

3) Direct Air Intake
Not sure. Could be one of different open/close pods / technique used

4) Hyper Direct Air Intake
Not sure. Could be one of different open/close pods / technique used

5) Open Pod with CAI
Open Pod usually involves changing to aftermarket piping and filter which replace the original stock air filter, air filter box. The filter usually looks like the shape of a cone. There is no point just doing open pod without CAI as since it is in your engine bay, it is sucking hot air. The hotter the air is, the less power your engine can generate. That is why a CAI piping is added to your open pod.  However, please note the open pod kills power for all auto cars. For auto car, closed pod should be the choice.
