i am lost for word. even with three strikers on the field, liverpool was completely toothless and wasteful of chances.

Shots attempted (on target)
Liverpool: 38 (10)
Charlton: 10 (1)

Possession:
Liverpool 66%
Charlton 34%

Hmmm... Think Liverpool needs a major overhaul in the strikers dept...

Morientes - Poor form
Crouch - Good effort and linkup but play just like Emile Heskey... no goals
Cisse - Can't score, can't pass, can't dribble, can't cross... wonder how he got into the French squad??? Think Traore can do better!!!
Fowler - At least some resemblance of a striker with good touches... Just need a good strike partner to play with...

Dun think Pool can retain the Champions League counting just on Gerrard alone...

think liverpool need to splurge large sums of cash to get a world class striker..or simply get back owen.

ronaldo is available.

i dont know about getting a world class striker. rather, they havent find the right striker to fit into their team.

somehow, all prolific strikers come to liverpool are destined for a goal drought:

- michael owen had a hard time scoring during the GH's days but when he was at real madrid, he could easily net a goal or two playing as a sub.

- morientes was well known for his terrific heading skills in spanish league. i think thats why benitez bought him for: to adopt the english style of cross and head strategy. most of his attempts these days look like clearances.

- cisse, formerly a top scorer in france league, turned into an average player overnight who cant scored as if his life depends on it. on paper, he shouldnt be so screw up, considering he is as fast as owen, yet with stronger physique. but he really cant head for shit.

- crouch, fantastic header for southampton. but now, there is een a joke on the papers saying that he is 1.9m but 1.7m when he jumps.

- fowler. aint surprise he cant score with his current match fitness. plus, i see him more as a bergkamp than henry.

- heskey, another great scorer, both in and outside of the box for leicester. made to complement owen and went under fire about his scoring ability after he joined liverpool.

so.. is it the system or the players?

i dont think ronaldo is a wise choice. i still remember how stupid he makes inter milan looks: pay him to be on the bench for a season to two.
