 Yes kent,
you came out with an attacking formation in the first half, which might have backfired..
this is what i felt,
Tey was pushed up, which was a double-edge sword, because he can attack and defend,
but his main skill is in defending which means that he could have read the game out quicker and glavanized the back four..
Attacking wise is not at it's best, it may be the result of mrng trng but i don't think it's the main cause. but our shots were poor, and we had a penalty to draw us level in half time,

First Goal conceded;
I feel it was a miscommunication between me and the players, it was a 50-50 fault and that it was a soft goal too.
i was caught off guard when the striker was in a non-offside position and he took full advantage to it.

2nd Goal conceded ;
It was a very very frustrating goal.. i was asking for the ball to be cleared and not only it was not cleared, it proved disatrous as it ended up being a simple tap in at the near post

3rd Goal Conceded;
it was a rebound which was not anyone at fault, because i saved the ball and the striker out ran kelvin and got to the ball first and poked it home for the 3rd goal..

I believe this scoreline was a fair one and that we should play more friendlies before we consider joining a league because in the league as i have experienced is way more demanding than this..

In fact, 2nd goal was rather dissappointing. Although a couple of us touch the ball, but dunno why just cant clear it off. 1 of the reason is of cos the muddy patch ard that area of the field and another will probably be our ball controlling.

In the first half, we didn't have much of the ball in the final third of the pitch so we were never fully able to utilise Tey's prescence in midfield.

Second half wise, we were much better going forward, and should have pulled level, maybe even ahead, I would say that I was one of the main culprits for missing a chance to pull us back.

Anyway, I believe it wasnt the best idea for us to have trained in the morning and then come for the match, it was telling that alot of us were not at 100%, and pulling up with cramps towards the end of the match. Overall, it just wasnt our day today, on any other day we would have scored at least 2 or 3 more, Tf's shot against the bar, the freekick onto the roof of the net, having a horrible referee did not help matters much, though he did award us the penalty. Keep the heads up, and I hope to see a couple more wins on the board by the time I come back!

Go hard or go home.

Ahh i agree with you we had a ref who made weird decisions..
i am certain he dosen't wants to award another penalty(s) due to pressure from the other team..

and kudos i had the same thought about the 2nd half, we were alot more efficient going forward but our back line didn't had it all cover, i have to say nazir was at fault for the constant torture on our right side and that their two indian players were technically better than us.
we didn't have full backs who closed down hard and fast on them although centre back did really well with tey and andy behind sniffing out through passes and clearing balls, but it wasn't enough and we let in two goals.

I don't see Alan's point for 2nd goal at all. it was entirely  no clearing, i was screaming at the team, yet you all played around and didn't want to do clearing. that is why i prefer players like andy and tey to clear the ball and bring the ball up at the right timings..
it's not like the back four was bad, they were good.. but just have to make their runs at the correct timing..
I am sure Kelvin was very very worn out by the matches this morning, so it was also a reason..
anyway team BB we did well despite the lapse of concentrations we had!!

on the hindsight, i suppose the result could be different if tey were to play defender.
but that's football, we can never know if how differently it would turn out.

ironically, we played badly and equalized in the first half with tey in the midfield, and played better to concede more goals in the second half with tey in defence.

ok my thoughts.
dont know about you guys..but i felt strange right from the kick off --> 5mins?
nobody was shouting..or communicating, even kent had a go at us for this. Why? the first 5-10mins should be time we really show what we are made of..even if we arent made of steel. we should ACT as though we are. so yeah, my suggestion is that all of us should really communicate and shout fearlessly .." KEEP THE PRESSURE!" "MY BALL" " PUSH UP!" etc etc.

there was also a huge gap in the center of park, tey cannot win every single ball although he did a really good job. and like what alvin said, i think its best to utilize tey in defense. since that's his forte and his bread and butter. he owns the defense.

tbh i think the result does not really reflect the true picture. we really really upped our game in the 2nd half.. kok nearly scored from a half volley but the keeper saved it. if that had went in, i am REALLY confident we would have gone to win the game. but then again.. from hindsight, everything is so easily said.

of all the 3 goals, i feel that the 2nd goal was the weakest and really should not have happened.  i think ren jie took 1-2 extra touches in trying to control the ball before it was taken away. i suggest a no-nonsense clearance in times like this...yep..

as for the strikers, we missed shots after shots. shooting really let us down. tingfu was agonizingly close with his left foot curler that struck the post. kent came close from outside too. i hit the side netting as well. lione blazed one over from a score-able position, given his ability to strike balls. so yeah... well, a disappointing result.

im really gutted and i thought about the match even during my studying and dinner time. i admit that im someone who really suck at accepting defeats..well, ill try my best and will train even harder on my own ( running etc ) and be a better player in due course..

cheers to all.
if some of comments sound harsh..please do not see it that way (:

i wont say any particular individual is at fault when it's a team result.
opponent strength doesnt always equate to our weakness.
if NZ was overhwlemed by skilful double plays, that was because the team put him in that situation.
i suppose if we converted a few of our chances, our vulnerabilities would never be exposed. such hypothesis are endless.

as much as we would like to have familiar faces playing in their best positions all the time, we cannot ensure everyone's fitness and availability in every game.
which is why certain degree of rotation is beneficial for the team in the long run.
it is only in such matches where mistakes are made and learnt.

just a note to everyone.

all of us like to win, and we also have the tendency to forget that losing is also part of the game.
which is why it is perfectly normal for us to CSI more on the 3 goals conceded today, than the 4 goals conceded from our last victory.

i would like all of us to take a step back and focus more on the marco mistakes and merits.
in any case where names are being mentioned, read it with a pinch of salt and absorb the learning points.

remember, taking defeat with the right mindset can only make us stronger.

seconded.

oh yeah 1 more thing to add.
i also observed that our resurgence in the 2nd half was partly due to our CMs winning the aerial balls after their goalkicks. this happened a few times within a short span...which then contributed to our constant presuring of their zone

No team can win every single match they played in so take heart from this result esp since its an away game on unfamiliar ground. Its a good learning experience nevertheless. Maybe we can challenge the team again at home in a few months time and overturn the deficit!

My 2 cents worth...in 2nd half we improve tremendously as finally there are 2 person playing in CM (Kent & Renjie).
In the 1st half we basically lost out from middle of the park and this means 3 person are "wasted" upfront.

Unless we have a tremendous DM who can cover alot of ground...I still firmly believe in 2 centre-midfield.

Yeah I think the morning training took alot out of the guys...very "quiet" game with no communication.

i also same as many of you guys here..hate losing....but still losses quite abit on the road....since I joined this team...=)

I agreed tat the morning training took toll out of our players.... everyone say light session or light kickabout only..but when the training starts...all start to chiong...

as for myself...it's a day I couldn't do much even way before the morning "training"......due to my accumulated muscles fatigue from the day before race......=(

to alvin: it's not alan fault for the 2nd goal...I understand tat he tried very hard to clear the ball away liao..but the ball keep rebounding back into the box...and the ah nei was just at the right spot at the right time.....=(

my overall view is....we MUST keep the CORE BACK 4! and personally I feel the CORE BACK 4 are Tay,Kelvin,David,Andy.......I have my own reason in choosing these 4......well saying this...I am not saying uddin, kent, alson are all not good.... just feel uddin would be a very useful backup... and Kent....is more versatile...he could play at Right Mid,Cm too...well alson....could do as a striker or CM too!

anyone agree???

I juz read through all your comments on this post. I understand everyone is feeling down plus we have to face the Monday's blues.

At this time we can point our fingers on the pitch, the ref, the weather, the training, teamates, etc..OR we could takes this as a wake up call face this defeat as a man of the pitch, keep our chin up & train harder for the next game to come.

If we are to enter the league in July this will not help coz every single week we have to face an opponent. Great Wall of China wasn't built in a day or two & neither did Pele or Maradona achieve their skills in a year or two! It took them ages for goodness sake.

I'm as badly shaken as all of you but we have to bare this in mind. A defeat  is not a failure but only a DELAY!!! It Kevin Keegan years to bring up Newcastle United from Conference all the way to BPL. He met much more defeat then we did face much more critics than we ever imagine.

All you beatles whom are fan of Man United should know better...the whole team suffered a plane crash, did they give up? No they didn't. They rebuilt the team and look at them today?

COME ON GUYS...WE ARE BUGIS BEATLES AND NOT DUNK BEATLES!!! IT IS ONLY A DELAY & NOT A FAILURE! WE HAVE A LONG JOURNEY AWAITINF FOR US STILL. SO KEEP THAT CHIN UP GUYS!

Haha well said Andy.  Personally, I guess its good to have a balance. Abit of rants are good also.

Critical evaluation of our team and our flaws and mistakes..very important i feel.
Acknoweldge the errors, analyze them and  then try our best to correct it collectively, together as team, during training sessions..

Yeah i was feeling really down yesterday .. but Im sure most of us are feeling better now :)

quote:Actually it was a dilemma whether if Tey would have made a diff if he played first half. Personally I think Tey did a fantastic job up in midfield. If u think abt it guys, Tey won numerous header from goal kick for us beatles. Tey wasn't really feeling fantastic during the second half and was down with a cramp. But still I think he did well as a ball winner up front!

i don't know if anyone agree with me, but i will avoid the idea of a rematch.

losing to the same opponent twice is too hard to stomach for some.
winning them will only open up invitation for more rematches.
plus, rivalary will be unnecessarily intense.

if really have to, don't do it in the near future. it will only make us looks like sore losers.
